The one strawberry filled Cinco de Mayo.

Meet the Organic Strawberry Collagen Agua Fresca.  And just like that it’s already May and summer’s creepin around the corner.  I had an abundance of organic strawberries sitting in the fridge this week and have been cooking up a strawberry lover’s dessert spread (recipes to follow).  Since it’s Cinco de Mayo, I decided to concoct up a strawberry beverage in lieu of this festive day adding a Mexican twist.  🙂  It’s only the right thing to do.  🙂

I seriously made this on the limb and improvised as I went along, which I’ve been doing lately in the kitchen.  I’ve got some serious good eats recipe coming at y’all real soon.  It’s gonna be so good that I even surprised myself (and the bf too).  Just a quick personal cooking background—I have none.  I don’t cook, but I’d rather bake.  I’m a recipe follower, which is slightly changing as I’m getting more comfortable in the kitchen.  I’m definitely not the worst cook, but I sure can use a help or too.  And that’s basically it.  🙂

Well let’s get onto the recipe!  🙂

Y’all will need to find yourselves some: organic strawberries, water, lime, collagen powder (optional), and a sweetener (also optional).

strawberries2 cups Fresh Organic Strawberries – like I mentioned earlier, I had an abundance of organics strawberries, so that’s what I’m using. Y’all can definitely choose the berry or fruit of y’all’s choosing though.  🙂

1 ½ cups Cold Water – the colder, the better.

lime½ Lime – or to taste, add for more a tangier zing.

vital_proteins_collagen_peptides1 Scoop Collagen Powder – this was one of the improvising I’m talking about. Last minute I decided to add some collagen powder, cause why not!?!  After all, this agua fresca will provide skin, hair, nail, and much more benefits.  🙂

wedderspoon_raw_manuka_honey_kfactor16Sweetener – to taste and definitely optional. I added a scoop of Wedderspoon’s 100% Raw Manuka Honey Kfactor 16.  But y’all can add maple syrup, stevia, raw sugar, or nothing all.  🙂

Directions:

cut_strawberriesWash and slice organic strawberries in half (in quarters if larger). Combine strawberries and water into blender.  Blend until mixture is liquefied.

strawberry_pureeStrain strawberry water mixture into a pitcher using a fine mesh sieve and discard the remaining solid chunks.

Squeeze the juice of a ½ lime into pitcher and stir. Add 1 scoop of collagen powder and stir well to dissolve clumps.  Add sweetener of choice (optional) and stir.
