The one when I have teeth of black.
Meet Activated Charcoal Toothpaste in Spearmint for Whitening from My Magic Mud. Y’all this was a fun and interesting experience, checking out this activated charcoal toothpaste. 🙂 I’ve seen people on Instagram documenting their experience with charcoal toothpaste, and now here I am doing a blog post review of one. 🙂 Sorry though, now before and after photos here. Teeth photos just creep me out, and I’d rather keep them private. 🙂 But that doesn’t mean, my thoughts and opinions are any less valuable cause there’s no photo evidence. Trust me! 🙂
I already have a beloved natural toothpaste, which y’all can read up here. However, I was always curious about activated charcoal as a teeth whitener. So I knew I had to check out My Magic Mud Whitening Toothpaste. They claim it “is the first toothpaste to combine activated coconut shell charcoal and bentonite clay.” So it’s only fitting to use theirs, right?!?
So activated charcoal has numerous benefits for the body. From helping digestive issues to eliminating toxins to oral care, but let’s focus on the oral care aspect. 🙂 According to My Magic Mud, “Activated charcoal removes plaque, toxins that cause bad breath, and teeth stains through a process called adsorption where these unwanted elements adhere to the porous surface of the charcoal. The result is a dentist-like clean, and a brighter and whiter smile!” They even have a beautiful illustration:
Use this like your regular toothpaste, but it goes get a bit messy. I used to think that people sharing their experience with an activated charcoal toothpaste were over exaggerating on the “messiness.” Oh no, it’s true. For me, the residue does cling on to the bathroom sink, so I like to use it in the shower. 🙂 I like the texture of this toothpaste. I thought it would be a lil gritty cause of the charcoal and coconut oil, but it’s not the case. It really feels good in the mouth—very smooth. 🙂 It’s not foaming at all like conventional toothpastes, but I’ve gotten used to that since switching over to natural toothpaste. So for the take-my-word whiten test, it passes (with flying colors). The bf and I both agree that our teeth look whiter but not drastically whitened. I’m sure with continued use our teeth will get whiter and whiter. However, our tube stops here and we’re all out. 🙂 So I definitely see the potential in this activated charcoal toothpaste.
What I also love about My Magic Mud is that they use “smart and wholesome ingredients and is fluoride-free, non-GMO, and Natural Cosmetics Standard certified.” There’s also no SLS, no foaming agents, no glycerin, no triclosan, and it’s gluten free. 🙂 And best of all, it’s affordable and works. 🙂 Before I finish, the My Magic Mud Activated Charcoal Toothpaste for Whitening does come in other flavors, such as Wintergreen, Cinnamon Clove, and Peppermint. I enjoyed the Spearmint, but I want more minty-ness, so hope to check out the Peppermint one soon. 🙂
