The one and only coconut oil.
Meet Coconut Oil. I know, I know, coconut oil has been in and out of the spotlight for quite some time now. Many moons ago (and really, out of the blue), coconut oil was (and still is) the rage. Then it hit a lil bump when a medical publication came out with its own coconut oil research to shamelessly disprove its healthy benefits. And that’s a whole different topic that’s really not necessary at the moment. Why?!? Cause I’ve decided to do my own research and share with y’all.
I’ve been using coconut oil for roughly 3 years now. Back then, I was young, healthy (I mean wanted to be healthy), and was intrigued about the use of coconut oil. Initially, I cooked with it and baked with it (I’ve been meaning to post up some healthier, not necessarily and completely healthy, recipes, which I’ll have to soon). 🙂 Then I started making DIY skincare recipes with coconut oil (well it was during the holidays and wanted to gift some goodies). Now, I’m still young, I’m still healthy, and coconut oil is a consistent ingredient in my pantry (or fridge). 🙂
What I love most about coconut oil is its versatility. Like I mentioned, I can cook and bake with it. But my most favorite use is slathering it on my skin. 🙂 Here’s a few of coconut oil’s skincare benefits and uses:
- Antimicrobial Properties
- Antifungal Properties
- Antiinflammatory Properties
- Shaving Oil
- Hair Mask/Conditioner
- Eye Makeup Remover
- Body Moisturizer
- Body Scrub
- Massage Oil
- Lip Balm
- Sunburn Relief
- Works Against Stretch Marks
- Toothpaste Whitener
That’s just to name a few. For me, I like to keep my cooking coconut oil separate from my skincare coconut oil. And the coconut oil product I’ve found for my skin is the CocoRoo® Naturally Naked™ USDA Organic Coconut Oil Moisturizer. I keep it in the bathroom for easy access. In shower, I use it to shave my legs—just apply to legs and shave. Post shower, I use it as a body moisturizer—just apply to slightly damp skin for maximum absorption. End of the day, I use it to remove my makeup—just apply to cotton rounds all over the face and follow with face wash. 🙂
The CocoRoo Naturally Naked has been my go to this summer. It’s easy to use, readily available (since I keep it in the bathroom), and such a great product. I highly recommend this one y’all! 🙂
Full Ingredients: Organic Virgin Cold-Pressed Coconut Oil, Cold-Pressed Macadamia Nut Oil.
